Maybe you're looking for a certain color that's just not on your favorite supplier's shelf. If you can't find it, make your own! I'ts not as difficult as it sounds, plus you can save some bucks by buying your "ingredients" in bulk. All materials are available at your finishing supplier or arts and crafts stores.
The formula below is user-friendly. You can be off a little in your quantitis with no drastic effects on the finished glaze. It's a good idea, however, to keep a record of any changes to the formula. The formula yields about a pint of glaze. ( To make a practice batch, use 1 teaspoon of colorant, 3 teaspoons of solvent and 1 teaspoon of binder. ) Be sure to mix the ingredients very well, and keep the container tightly covered.

Mineral spirits or naptha
3 - 4 Oz. of Binder
Tung oil or boiled linseed oil
